Region
In the Middle Ages Hall began to extract salt which was mined in the Hall valley salt deposits near the neighbouring village of Absam. Not only did the so-called „white gold“ trigger off a rapid economic rise in the region, but the coinage of the first silver coins in the Mint Hall also contributed to the enormous wealth.
Reknown as one of the most beautifully preserved old towns in Austria, Hall is a lively small city full of liveliness, in which modern shopping and stylish hospitality can be experienced within historic walls today. The lovingly restored old town and the Castle Hasegg area with its mint tower and the attached mint museum attract tourists from all over the world each year.
